Healthcare a right or a responsiblity?
We all use it. We all need it. But how do we define how we as a society will deal with this massive undertaking?
I have been in the healthcare field for over 35 years and have seen great changes in our system. I have also seen the confusion in how people have been able to adapt to these changes.
Many years ago we trusted our personal physician who took care
of us from cradle to grave, but this is no longer true. We are a mobile society, in fact we are a global society.
We have given up some of our decision making to physicians that have been trained as technicians instead of clinicians. They go through their check list, order expensive tests, and hope to come up with a diagnosis. With all the technology are we really better off?
Chronic diseases have mulitiple dramatically in the last 30 years. You never heard of Chronic Fatugue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Chron’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes, Obesity, and a host of others.
And now that we have these chronic conditions how do we make the right choices. Do we take drugs or go to a more natual treatment. And how do we pay for all this technology when it comes to our health.
I will be interviewing people from across the country and around the world to see how individuals deal with their health. And together we may find some answers.
